 SPS Consulting is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Federal Government Client.

WorkPerformance:

Thecontractorshallprovidethefollowingtemporaryprofessional federal accounting services:

  • Prepare high-level journal entries based on post-bulk file uploads to GTAS and failed edits.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing journal entries based on Trial Balances for the monthly and year-end financial statement process. 
  • Prepare portions of financial statements to ensure that they tie to footnotes and period-to-period comparisons, including preparation of a detailed variance analysis.
  • Develops journal entries to reflect unusual transactions related to endowments, fixed assets, investments, federal budgetary and proprietary, debt, cash and other activities.
  • Prepare pre-and post-GTAS FBwT reconciliations that agree the ERP Trial Balances to the Central Accounting Reporting System (CARS) statement.
  • Prepares general ledger account reconciliations and reconciling entries for various general ledger accounts. 
  • Research reconciling items and other complex accounting issues in the ERP system as needed.
  • Analyze reports from the Dept. of Labor FECA and Unemployment and OPM Employer benefits and contributions; prepare journal entries for the differences in these reports and our Trial Balance.
  • Prepares the SF-133 and other government financial reports and ensure that each TAS is reporting appropriately.
  • Collaborates with OPMB to ensure that the reports from GTAS are in line with federal budgetary accounting and OMB reporting requirements.
  • Assist with the monthly close process for Federal reporting.
  • Assist with ensuring that the FY23 opening process goes smoothly and that balances are reporting correctly.
  • Work with KPMG and GAR team on interim financial statement audit during August/September.
  • Assist with IAA close-outs.
  • Assist with IPAC undistributed entries and research.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

RequiredSkills/Knowledge:

  • Minimum 5 (five)years’experience in senior or lead or equivalent SME federal government accounting positions.
  • BS in Accounting or similar
  • IntermediateoradvancedlevelexperiencewithExcel
  • ExperiencewithPeopleSoftorotherweb-basedfinancialsystemexperience preferred

 

WorkHours:

Contractor shall perform all work on a full-time basis (40 hours/week) in eight (8) hour daily tours to include the core hours from 7:00am to 5:00pm. Adjustments to daily tours may be made upon prior written agreement of the Contracting Officers’ Technical Representative and the contractor. This excludes Federal holidays.

 

 

Option exists for ad hoc telework.
