PositionProject/ Construction Accountant

LocationBethesda/Rockville

One of the leading companies in the construction industry in Washington DC specializing in the installation of mechanical and plumbing system, a frontrunner in energy evaluation and performance modeling is looking for a top-talent accountant who is able to deliver high-quality results and work closely with construction management and project accounting teams.   Responsibilities will include identification and accurate recording of fixed assets, billing and tracking of construction management fees and reviewing and auditing financial statements. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor capital projects by analyzing budget to actual variances
  • Work closely with construction management and project accounting teams to obtain, compile and review monthly accrual entries as well as monthly and quarterly accounting reports
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, management and accounting staff, internal and external auditors
  • Effectively multi-task in order to manage a variety of deadline-driven projects concurrently
  • Prepare and post depreciation and disposals entries
  • Prepare fixed assets Roll Forward Schedule
  • Review all incoming invoices for accuracy, proper approvals, and coding and enter into the system
  • Print, review and analyze Job Cost reports
  • Deposit misc. receipts, prepare and post journal entries, prepare manual checks and set up vendors
  • Input and access information in the Timberline, Sage, Yardi and FAS system

Qualification and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Minimum three (3) years of General Ledger or public accounting experience; preferably in commercial, construction or real estate accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • CPA or a current CPA candidate
  • Effectively multi-task in order to manage a variety of deadline-driven projects concurrently
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
